Camping Trip

We took Charlie for a 2-day backcountry camping trip to Aneroid Lake-a beautiful alpine lake located in the Eagle Cap Wilderness of Northeastern Oregon.
He enjoyed the 12 mile round-trip hike, sometimes dipping in the river to cool off, and sometimes rolling on the ground for no apparent reason.

We thought he would tire easily, but he hung in there. We actually needed more breaks than he did during the hike up into the mountains.  Since we were in bear country, we carried bear spray with us, and each of us, including Charlie, wore a small bell, with the hope that the sound our ringing bells would keep bears far away from us. And fortunately, we didn't see any bears while we were on the trail.

Charlie's favorite part of the trip was a short morning hike we took in the meadow around the lake before heading back. He was running around, sniffing new smells, and having a great time!
