Lost Miniature Dachshund

We found a cute miniature dachshund roaming in the neighborhood without a leash or collar. According to a neighbor, he had been roaming in the area for the last couple of days. When we approached him, he became a little scared and started to run away. We remembered dog rescue videos we watched before. Apparently, dogs go into a survival mode when they are lost. Even the most outgoing and friendly dogs can become skittish around people, run away, and hide. Sometimes, lost dogs do not recognize their owners when they see them, and they may run away. So, it is important to take your time, earn their trust, and reassure them that they are safe with you before attempting to capture them. After we run back to our house to grab treats and leash, we were ready to try some of the techniques we saw in the  videos. Well, it turned out that this little guy was pretty friendly after all, and we were able to pick him up in no time. Once we brought him home, he cheerfully sniffed around the house, jumped on the couch, and played with squeaky toys.

Charlie was so excited to have a potential playmate in the house, but the little guy, who we named Henry, was put off by Charlie's enthusiasm and excitement, and wanted nothing to do with him. So we kept them separate. Later that day, we brought him to the humane society where Charlie's mom works as a volunteer. Although he was unable to reunite with his owner, he was adopted by an elderly gentleman on his first day on the adoption floor. Best of luck, Henry!
