Charlie's symptoms subsided for the most part by the time we went to the vet. The doctor couldn't say definitively what had caused the tremors and temporary paralysis of the hind legs, but suggested it might be something he ate and recommended we continue to monitor his progress. If Charlie's condition deteriorated, he would do blood work, etc. Fortunately, Charlie's condition was back to 100% healthy the following day.
Curious to see if there was a link between the snack he ate and his reaction, we did an online search. We were amazed to find that there were hundreds of complaints made to the FDA about the health affects of jerky products made in China. Many described symptoms ranging from diarrhea, vomiting, kidney failure and even worse---some pets died! The second link below is a recent news story about a dog that had to be put down due to health issues resulting from eating Waggin Train's Jerky Tenders.
Despite all of the complaints, this product is still on store shelves. I'm not sure why. However, I recommend you do not buy this product. Also, since there have been so many health related complaints about a variety of pet products that were made in China, I recommend you review all of your dog treats and simply throw anything away that was made in China. It's just not worth the risk.
